The Barton Community College softball team swept the conference weekly honors for the second time this season as freshmen Maddison Schofield and Madison Didion were named the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week.  The duo helped the Cougars win six games last week extending the team’s win streak to fourteen straight and a 16-1 start to the season.

Schofield continued to be the table setter at the top of the lineup batting .619 on the week with a 1.048 slugging percentage.  Highlights for the Perth, Australia, freshmen’s week included hitting two home runs with her fourth long ball of the season coming on a two-run shot Sunday keying an eight run inning in an 20-11 victory then delivered a bases loaded triple to right field sparking a six run nightcap second inning helping the Cougars to a sweep over DII #RV Cowley College.

Didion had a twenty-three strikeout week in 14.1 innings of work, including eight in five innings against Cowley, ranking fifteenth in the country improving to 8-1 on the season.  Scattering ten hits throughout the week, Didion also extended her consecutive innings streak of not surrendering a base on balls to twenty-nine innings spanning her last six games.

Barton has a doubleheader Tuesday at Sterling College against the junior varsity squad before turning its sights on its first conference matchup on Thursday as the Cougars welcome No. 6 ranked Butler Community College in a 2:00 p.m. first pitch at Cougar Field.
