Mendez recorded her second hat-trick of the season last week powering Barton to an 8-1 victory Tuesday over non-conference foe MCC-Maple Woods.   The freshman from Magna, Utah, scored her first goal just 2:15 into the contest then added two more in the next thirty minutes staking Barton out to the then three goal lead.  Four days later Mendez scored her team leading 12th goal in the Lady Cougars’ 4-0 win over Coffeyville Community College.

Barton wrapped up regular season play yesterday defeating Kansas City Kansas Community College 7-1 as Mendez added two goals bringing her season total to fourteen while also distributing her third assist of the year.

The Lady Cougars finished tied for fourth place in the Jayhawk standings at 7-4 and 8-6 overall.  Next up for the Lady Cougars is a Saturday trip to Dodge City for first round Region VI playoffs at Dodge City Community College kicking off at 2:00 p.m.  The Lady Conquistadors finished the regular season at 10-4 overall tying Barton for fourth place in the conference but get the No. 4 seed and home advantage virtue of their 2-1 victory over Barton on September 26 in Dodge City.
