The inaugural class of student-athletes in Barton Community College Wrestling history began last week coinciding with the NJCAA national letter of intent signing day as Great Bend High School’s Kade Sander planted his name in Barton tradition becoming the first to sign on the dotted line for the Cougars.

“I’m excited to have Kade a part of our program,” said Barton Wrestling Head Coach Mike Bammes.  “He (Kade) took a year off from wrestling to concentrate on school and he’s hungry wrestle again and be a part of a first-year program in his backyard.”

Sander accumulated an 89-16 overall record competing for the Panthers, finishing third in the state in 2014 after a fourth place finish in 2013.

While Sander is the first officially signing, Coach Bammes plans a full release of 2015-16 signees in the near future.
