Kansas Wesleyan Director of Athletics Mike Hermann has accepted the resignation of Men’s Basketball Coach Chris Fear.

Fear coached five seasons at Kansas Wesleyan, compiling a 29-115 overall record. During his tenure at KWU, Fear coached ten All-KCAC performers and six Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Athletes.

Fear was charged with rebuilding the basketball program from the ground up when he took over the program in the spring of 2011, reestablishing a positive culture within the program highlighted by Dylan Hidalgo (SR/Tucson, Ariz.) being named as the 2013-14 KCAC Champion of Character Male Student Athlete of the Year. His teams have earned NAIA Scholar Team and NABC Team Academic Excellence Award honors each of the last three seasons.

“There is no coach on our staff with a stronger work ethic than Chris Fear,” said Mike Hermann, director of athletics. “He built a positive program filled with young men that represent us well on the court, in the community and in the classroom. He is leaving the program in a much better position than what was here when he arrived, and I thank him for that commitment.”

Kansas Wesleyan will begin a national search for Fear’s replacement. Current assistant coach Nate Thies will serve as Interim Head Coach.
