Regulations about the sale of fireworks however is different in Hutchinson and Reno County.
With changes to state laws in 2025, fireworks can now be sold between 8 a.m. and 11 p.m. June 20 to July 7 within the city limits of Hutchinson.
Those wishing to sell fireworks in unincorporated Reno County have a smaller window, from June 30 to July 4.
Other cities and communities fireworks codes vary
Besides Hutchinson, other cities within Reno County also have their own regulations about fireworks.
- In South Hutchinson, fireworks can be both sold and discharged from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. on June 30 to July 4.
- Buhler allows the sale of fireworks from 8 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. and the discharge of them from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. on June 30 to July 4.
- In Nickerson, fireworks can be sold from 8 a.m. to midnight on June 29 to July 4 and people can discharge them from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. on June 29 to July 3 and 8 a.m. to midnight on July 4.
- Pretty Prairie allows for sales between 8 a.m. and midnight on June 27 to July 4 and discharge from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. on June 27 to July 3 and 9 a.m. to midnight on July 4.
- Haven has sales from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. on July 1 to 3 and 8 a.m. to midnight on July 4, while people can discharge them from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. July 1 to 3, 9 a.m. to midnight on July 4 and 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. on July 5.
- s are permitted to be sold anytime from June 30 to July 4 and can be discharged between 8 a.m. and 11 p.m. on those same days.
Finally, throughout all of Reno County fireworks will always be prohibited from being discharged in the event of a burn ban or at the discretion of local fire officials.
