2020 Events Calendar

Every Saturday Through October 31st

McPherson County Farmer’s Market- Every Saturday morning through October 31st from 7:30 a.m.-12 noon. The market will take place in the Blue Roundtop, 710 W. Woodside. Eggs, flowers, produce, baked goods, meat, and more!

Every Sunday in September

Bingo at the McPherson American Legion, 401 N. Main. The Early Bird Session start at 2:30 p.m. Regular Games begin at 3:15 p.m.

Now Through Saturday, October 31st

First Annual Fossil 5K Virtual Run– hosted by the McPherson Museum. Registration fee: $35 per person. Participants will receive a one-of-a kind medal and T-shirt. Run or walk

5K, take a picture or screenshot of your miles ran and time, then send it to the McPherson Museum. The two fastest times will receive a free annual family membership!! For more information go to www.mcphersonmuseum.com/fundraisers or call (620) 241-8464

Friday, September 25th

McPherson Chamber of Commerce Classic: “Par-Tee On” Golf Tournament– at Turkey Creek Golf Course, 1000 Fox Run. Registration/Lunch will start at 11:30 a.m. Tee off at 12:30 p.m. For information contact the McPherson Chamber of Commerce at 241-3303 or  www.mcphersonchamber.org.

Canton Heritage Days- Downtown Canton. Community Breakfast at Canton American

Legion, 5K Run/Walk, Flea & Craft Market, Poker Run, Car Show, Corn Hole Tournament, Street Dance, Live Music, ATV Rodeo. Details and event times can be found on the Canton Heritage Days Facebook page.

Saturday, September 26th

Santa Fe Days and Car Show- in downtown Inman. Car Show Registration available from 8 a.m.-11 a.m. the day of the show. Trophies at 3 p.m. Other Santa Fe Days events include a Fun Run, Basket Auction, Fishing Derby at 3 p.m., Kid’s Games, Tractor Pull, and live music by Saltcity Cowboy Church Band.

Joy Walk/Run– 9 a.m. at Lakeside Park, 500 W. Lakeside Drive. Hosted by the McPherson Free Methodist Church. For more information call 620-241-7176 or sign up on their website at https://macfmc.org.

16th Annual Thunder on the Smoky Motorcycle Rally– 8 a.m.-5 p.m. in Marquette, hosted by the Kansas Motorcycle Museum. Visit the Kansas Motorcycle Museum website or the Thunder on the Smoky Motorcycle Rally Facebook page for updates on times and events.

Canton Fall Market– 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at the McPherson County Fairgrounds, 1514 27th Ave. in Canton. Free admission! A fabulous variety of vendors, plus the Canton Days Medallion Hunt and the Treasure in the Haystack Hunt for Kids, with many more activities being planned around town!

Monday, September 28th

TED Circle Program: Chronic Illness Conversation- 6:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. via zoom. Facilitated by the McPherson Public Library. Ideal session for individuals who live with chronic illness, caregivers who support loved ones, or anyone interested in learning more about how to care and support those affected. Cancer Support Group- 6:30 p.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church, 119 N. Elm – west entrance. First meeting for an informal support group starting up in McPherson, sponsored by Victory in the Valley. Group is for those who have cancer, are cancer survivors, and for caregivers. The group will be meeting the 4th Monday of each month in the church library.

Tuesday, September 29th 

Taco Tuesday- at the Trinity Lutheran Church, 119 N. Elm. Fundraiser hosted by Mt. Hope Sanctuary. The Taco Truck will be open for two serving times: 11 a.m.-1 p.m. / 5 p.m.-7 p.m. Or you can pre-order online at www.mthopesanctuary.org for quicker carryout or delivery. Catered by Knackies. Free will donation. All proceeds go directly to support Mt.

Hope Sanctuary women and children.

Friday, October 2nd

Growth and Development Screening– 8:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m. in Galva. Birth to age 5. Due to COVID-19, screening might be cancelled and/or change depending on state recommendations. Call the Early Childhood Office for an appointment, 620-241-9590.

2020 Coronado Heights VIRTUAL Run. 5K Virtual, 15K Virtual, 1-Mile Youth Virtual Fun Run, or 2-Mile Virtual Walk. Run or walk your race from any location you choose. Register at www.active.com. Registration ends October 3rd. Run your race October 3-10. Oktoberfest- a fundraiser for St. Joseph Catholic School, 520 E. Northview Ave. Not an “in person” event. Preorder bierocks, German sausage, ham & dumpling soup, cinnamon rolls and more. DEADLINE TO ORDER: October 2nd. Food pickup times: 11 a.m.-7 p.m. in the south parking lot of the school. $1 raffle tickets also available for various prizes OR purchase a $50 raffle ticket for the Reverse Raffle Drawing for a $10,000 grand prize. Sunday, October 11th

Falun Classic Bike Ride- 12:30 p.m.-4:30 p.m. Hosted by the McPherson Amateur Radio Club. The ride will start and end at Swensson Park, 400 block of North Main in Lindsborg. A 32-mile loop through Smoky Valley and the town of Falun on paved roads. Register at www.bikereg.com and enter in Falun Classic to find 2020 ride registration. Monday, October 12th

Elyria Christian School BBQ Dinner- 11 a.m.-7 p.m. at the 4-H Building, 710 W. Woodside, in McPherson. Hosted by Elyria Christian School. There will be NO DINE IN this year. Two ordering options will be available: Call Ahead Ordering and Carside Ordering. More information to come.

Saturday, October 17th

2nd Annual Teuton 5K Run/Walk & 2-Mile Color Dash- at 101 N. Main in Inman. Registration is at 7 a.m. Race will start at 8 a.m. Hosted by the Inman Elementary PTO. Strollers & wagons are welcome! First Annual Painting with Hope Fundraiser- 3 p.m.-5 p.m. at the McPherson Opera

House, 219 S. Main. Create a fun canvas artwork to take home. Event will be limited to 20 people. Precautions will be taken to ensure the safety of those participating. For more information or to register go to the Mt. Hope Sanctuary website. Proceeds will benefit Mt.

Hope Sanctuary.

DEA National Prescription Drug Take-Back– 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Law Enforcement

Center, 1177 W. Woodside. Hosted by the McPherson Police Department and County Sheriff’s Office. Visit the McPherson KS Police Department Facebook page for specifics concerning what can and cannot be taken during the Take-Back Event.

Thursday, October 29th

Trick or Treat Main Street- 5:30 p.m.-7 p.m. (or until candy runs out!) In Downtown McPherson. Trick or Treat with McPherson merchants up and down Main Street.

Friday, October 30th and Saturday October 31st

Sunday, November 1st – Thursday, December 31st

Candy Cane Cash! Shop local to check off your Christmas lists and get registered to win! Shop at participating stores November 1st through December 31st, 2020 and earn points to enter for the Candy Cane Cash. You could win a $1,000 OR $500 in Candy Cane Cash just for shopping locally!
