Wichita, KS – A Sedgwick County Judge is warning residents to take caution about a jury scam. A man has already been scammed out of $500 for answering a phone call from who he thought was Sheriff’s Warrant Deputy. The person on the other end of the phone claimed that the man failed to appear for jury duty and owed a $500 fine.
The truth is that Sedgwick County does not collect fines for failure to appear for jury duty, and will never call to collect payment. The urge those to receive these calls to contact the sheriff’s department.
