Join keynote speaker Kansas cowgirl turned television host, Courtenay DeHoff, at the 2022 Women Managing the Farm Conference. The conference – themed “Together Again” – is scheduled for February 9 to 11, 2022, at the Hilton Garden Inn in Manhattan, with early registration fees ending on January 12.
DeHoff is a television personality, keynote speaker and podcast host better known as “Fancy Lady Cowgirl.” Her inspirational messages, as stated on her website, proclaim “a cowgirl is not defined by what she wears or where she lives.”
“Through television, storytelling, fashion, special events, brand partnerships and more, the Fancy Lady Cowgirl mission aims to uplift and embrace women from all walks of life who embody cowgirl qualities,” the website writes.
DeHoff’s story of how she has embraced rural and urban lifestyles through a cowgirl spirit will kick off this year’s two-day program of speakers, sessions and networking designed to help women manage their farms more effectively, thrive within their rural communities and stay informed on the latest advancements in agriculture. This year’s breakout sessions include employee management for farms, Farm Service Agency (FSA) programs, soil health, farm tax updates and land transition.
In addition to her keynote, DeHoff will help moderate a general session titled “Working Together for One Another.”
As described in the conference agenda, “Women have long been valuable leaders in agriculture. They are often visible influences who create positive changes in their communities. For this panel, we will hear from women who serve in professional roles either in agriculture or industries related to agriculture. They are known for giving others a hand up and building community. Each, in their own way, are a catalyst for change in their industries. While creating change, they bring other women along with them on their journey.”
According to the conference’s organizers, Women Managing the Farm helps prepare women to successfully participate in multiple farm roles by having training, risk management tools and professional resources available to them through conferences, workshops and other opportunities. The conference has been held annually since 2005, including a virtual conference last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Nearly 300 women attended the conference in person the year prior.
“Women have a strong and growing presence across U.S. agriculture,” said Marsha Boswell, Kansas Wheat vice president of communications. “The Women Managing the Farm Conference provides resources, learning opportunities and networking for women who are helping grow the nation’s food supply as leaders of their operations, ag industry professionals, members of family farms or landowners.”
Early registration runs through January 12 at $150, with scholarships available for those who apply before that deadline. After that date, registration is $175. Additional pre-conference sessions are available for $25, including beginning QuickBooks, advanced QuickBooks and an introduction to UAV/drone technology.
