Hospice & HomeCare of Reno County, working in conjunction with the Delos V. Smith Senior Center, has established a new support group dealing with community resources, coping with stress, companionship, love and caregiving.

Stacy Goss, Community Liaison for Hospice & HomeCare of Reno County, said the support group will meet at 1 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month. All sessions will be held at the Delos V. Smith Senior Center at 101 West First Street in downtown Hutchinson. The first session is planned for 1 p.m., March 8.

“For the past two years, COVID restrictions resulted in support groups meeting online or were closed at a time when the number of family caregivers rose,” Goss said. “All scheduled meetings of the Support Group will be in person gatherings.”

Goss and a Licensed social worker will facilitate each meeting. No RSVP or preregistration is required and all sessions are without charge and open to the public.

Other support groups meeting at the Delos V. Smith Senior Center include the Low Vision Support group which meets at 1:30 p.m. on the second Wednesday of each month and the Parkinson’s Support Group which meets 11 a.m. to noon on the second Thursday of each month.
