Hesston Volleyball signs local defensive specialist

0

Hesston College volleyball coach Jessica Cleveland announces Ally Vogt, a 5’6” defensive specialist from Berean Academy, Elbing, Kan., as the latest addition to the Larks 2015 recruiting class.

Vogt was an honorable mention all-league performer as a senior for Berean Academy, where she also played basketball and ran track for the Warriors. Vogt helped lead Berean to the 2012 volleyball state tournament.

A National Honor Society member and four-year Gold Honor Roll selection, Vogt will study social work at Hesston.

“Ally will be a great fit at Hesston College and the volleyball program,” Cleveland said. “She’s athletic with a lot of volleyball potential. I’m excited to watch her grow and develop as a student athlete at Hesston.”

Vogt is the daughter of Scott and Amy Vogt, Hesston. She attends Garden Community Church, Moundridge, Kan.

Hesston Baseball young and talented

After ending a record setting season last year with a 28-22 mark, third-year Hesston College Baseball Coach Rob Ramseyer boasts a young and talented roster that is ready for the challenge. Leaving a bitter feeling at the end of the season, the heart breaking 1-0, 12 inning loss to Northern Oklahoma College – Enid does not sit well with the returning sophomores. This has fueled the team during the offseason.

A pair of double header games against Northern Oklahoma College – Enid, one away on
Feb. 24, one at home on March 28, will excite the players as well as the fans. Matchups versus local NJCAA Division I power Hutchinson (Kan.) Community College and Redlands CC, El Reno, Okla., also highlight the schedule.

“This is probably the youngest team I have had during my time here, but also one of the most talented,” Ramseyer said. “I think it will be fun to watch the maturation of this team. This team has some depth so it should be fun to see different guys step up each night.”

Working hard in the offseason, the Larks have been anticipating the beginning of their season since the day they arrived on campus.

“Our guys have worked hard in the weight room and the practice field since the day they got here in the fall,” Ramseyer said. “It has been a fun group to coach because, as a whole, the team has worked hard and gotten better almost every day.”

The Larks play a five-game series against Brown Mackie College (Salina, Kan.) that determines the Region VI winner May 1 to 3. The Larks will play Brown Mackie twice during the regular season, showcases of how postseason will play out. Hesston opens its regular season with a 1 p.m. double header at Independence (Kan.) CC Saturday, Feb. 14.

Under Ramseyer and former coach, Art Mullet, Hesston Baseball has enjoyed six consecutive winning seasons.

Roger’s View From The Hills: Falling Off The Turnip Truck

“THERE ARE TWO WAYS OF LYING.
ONE, NOT TO TELL THE TRUTH,
AND THE OTHER, MAKING UP
STATISTICS.”

Now I am going to make a bold statement here.  I just did not fall off the turnip truck.  I am not a big believer in coincidence.  And to use the gullibility of anyone to further an agenda that is harmful to people and the country is the ultimate in hubris.  Maybe the country is so far gone that no one will use any thought process and if that is so it is too late to save it.
Obviously neither side of the Washington crowd has any inkling as to what is right or good for the country or they would not be continuing to sell us down the river.  But here is my thoughts whether you like it or not.
THE MEASLES EPIDEMIC STARTED AT DISNEYLAND.  Baloney!  I would use stronger words but this is a publication for decent people.  There is a Mumps epidemic, and other contagious diseases going around the country.  The flu vaccine was not formulated for the strains going around.
I ask you a question.  What event has happened in the last two to three years that could directly bear on this?  The invitation to send children to the United States from Latin America by our Fearless Leader?  The promotion of it and the hoards of unvaccinated children flooding our southern border?  Then the immigration authorities moving numbers of these kids all over the country?
The number of unvaccinated children in this country are being blamed but how did they contract it?  I am sorry I do not accept the mainstream reporting of the epidemic and the governments explanations.
Call me hard headed.  Call me a jerk.  Call me a denier.  I don’t care!  We are under invasion and those who see it everyday try to tell us and mostly it gets ignored.
Well back to what they think we really care about.  Isn’t that Kanya West a Jerk?

How many classic car owners can point to the single car in their collection that embodies their automotive education? How many enthusiasts can point to one vehicle that set them on their life path? On both fronts, Adam Martin certainly can. As a sixteen year-old in 1990s Minnesota, Martin used his pizza-making earnings to buy a ridden-hard, primer-gray 1968 Chevrolet Camaro…
