The City of Wichita’s “Big Read Wichita” provides residents with opportunities to experience quality literary and art programs in the community. The program focuses on events around one book and its themes. The 2016 selection is Ray Bradbury’s Fahrenheit 451. The book explores themes of censorship, message control, and the efforts some will go to preserve literature and the freedom of public information. The Wichita Public Library and other groups will have a variety of “Big Read” events from October 1- November 15. A list of those events can be found at http://www.bigreadwichita.org.
